Dr. Mehmet Zahid Poyraz
President 2024-2025
He was born in Ankara in 1977. In 1999 he graduated from Erciyes University as a Mechanical Engineer. He then proceeded to live in America for about 7 years. At that stage of his life he got his masters in business from The College of Saint Rose and started to work professionally. Since 2005, he has been active in the ventilation sector of the HVAC-R industry. In 2022, he received his PhD in Business from Istanbul Zaim University in hopes to be a master within his field. In his almost 25 year long working experience, he has devoted his time into developing and delivering ventilation technologies that would make sure people lived in better conditions and he enjoyed every second of it. With his PhD, he is hoping to spend precious time with students teaching them all the valuable lessons he has learned on his way here and to learn from them in return.
Ahmet Gökşin
Past President 2022-2024
He was born in 1955 in Istanbul. He graduated from Yildiz Technical University Mechanical Engineering Department in 1979. He worked as professional 10 years and he set up Havak A.S. Company in 1988. Havak produces and sells industrial ventilation-air conditioning devices and accessories such as air curtain, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, air socks, industrial ventilating products etc. His second company General Filter Havak A.S. established in 2008 and produce all kinds of air filters. He is still working as the general manager of both companies.
Prof. Dr. Atilla Bıyıkoğlu
Past President 2020-2022
He has received license degree in 1989 from Mechanical Engineering Department at Gazi University, MSc. degree in 1992 from Mechanical Engineering Department at M.E.T.U., and PhD degree in 1998 from Mechanical Engineering Department of Gazi University. He has worked as Assist. Prof. between 2003 and 2007, Associate Prof. between 2007 and 2013, and served as Chair in Mechanical Engineering Department at Gazi University between 2013 and 2017.
Prof. Dr. Ayhan Onat
Past President 2018-2020
He was born in Çaykara district of Trabzon in 1965. He completed his primary and high school education in Kırıkhan district of Hatay. Having started his undergraduate education at Istanbul Marmara University, Mr. ONAT completed his Master and Doctorate studies at the same university.
Working as a faculty member at various universities since 1991, ONAT currently works as a Faculty Member at Marmara University, Faculty of Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Thermodynamics Division. Mr. ONAT, which has many national and international scientific articles in the field of Air Conditioning and Cooling, also has books published in the same field. Mr. ONAT, who also served as the President of ASHRAE TURKISH CHAPTER between 2018-2020 and has relations with Sector Associations, is currently the Coordinator of the Occupational Health and Safety Coordination Unit of Marmara University.
Bahadırhan Tari
Past President 2016-2017
He was born in 1969 in Istanbul. He graduated from Sivas Technical High School Electrical Department in 1985 and graduated from METU (Gaziantep) Mechanical Engineering Department in 1991. He worked as a field engineer, site manager, project manager, sales and marketing manager in HVAC sector. Currently, He works as a Factory Manager in S&P AFS Ventilation Systems Inc.
