ASHRAE Turkish Chapter – Had an important meeting with the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum.

The ASHRAE Turkish Chapter – Government Affairs Committee (GAC) held an important meeting with Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, in August 2025. The main agenda items of the meeting were Energy Efficiency in Buildings, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in Schools, Hospitals, and Public Buildings, and Professional Engineers.

In August 2025, Mr. Zeki Poyraz, member of the ASHRAE Turkish Chapter – Government Affairs Committee (GAC), visited Mr. Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, to discuss key issues shaping sustainable building practices in Türkiye.

1️⃣ Energy Efficiency in Buildings: Expanding the implementation of energy-efficient design and retrofitting strategies aligned with ASHRAE standards.
2️⃣ Indoor Air Quality (IAQ): Enhancing HVAC system standards in schools, hospitals, and public buildings to ensure healthy indoor environments.
3️⃣ Professional Engineer Development: Strengthening professional engineering capacity in the HVAC sector, emphasizing accreditation and international certification initiatives led by ASHRAE.

Conclusion

The meeting between Mr. Zeki Poyraz and Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum, marked a significant step in strengthening ASHRAE Turkish Chapter GAC’s collaboration with public authorities.
