ASHRAE Turkish Chapter GAC – July 2025 Activities

A Period of Intensive Engagement with Public and Industrial Stakeholders

The ASHRAE Turkish Chapter Government Affairs Committee (GAC) conducted a series of high-level meetings throughout July 2025 with key public institutions, industry chambers, and NGOs. The main agenda included export potential of the HVAC-R industry, Border Carbon Adjustment (CBAM), Industrial Decarbonization Acceleration Act, energy efficiency in HVAC systems, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

Visit to TÜSİAD

A meeting was held with Mr. Orhan Turan, President of TÜSİAD, to discuss policies to enhance the export competitiveness of the HVAC-R industry and the implications of CBAM and Industrial Decarbonization policies. The discussion also covered improving indoor air quality in schools and hospitals through advanced HVAC solutions.

Meeting with ISO

Discussions with ISO focused on strengthening cooperation with Istanbul’s industrial clusters and promoting energy-efficient HVAC technologies.

Hosting the Minister of Commerce

The Chapter hosted Minister of Commerce Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat to discuss export support mechanisms, the HVAC industry’s role in the green transition, and energy-efficient applications.

Meeting with Strategy and Budget President

The meeting with Mr. İbrahim Şenel, President of the Strategy and Budget Directorate, addressed the impact of the Industrial Decarbonization Acceleration Act and the energy-saving potential of HVAC systems in public buildings.

Visit to ASO

Discussions with ASO emphasized strengthening ties between the HVAC-R industry and industrial chambers and improving indoor air quality in institutional buildings.

Conclusion

These engagements reinforced GAC’s mission to act as a technical dialogue platform between policymakers and the HVAC-R industry. In the 2025–26 term, the committee will continue to promote energy efficiency and indoor air quality–driven policies in Türkiye’s HVAC sector.
